AREAS OF INTEREST
I am a therapist who loves what I do. I achieved my Honours and Master of Psychology degrees at the University of Johannesburg and have more than 15 years of experience as a Counselling Psychologist. Throughout my career I have gained valuable experience through years of working across cultures, with a diverse range of clients from a variety of backgrounds.
I have been trained in a wide variety of theoretical orientations, treatment modalities and therapeutic techniques. I use a combination of different systems of psychotherapy in my work, as I believe that the flexibility of an integrative framework can address the needs of each specific client.
My therapeutic approach is to engage with clients holistically and creatively, to improve their overall mental health. Based on the understanding that an individual’s psychological, social, spiritual, physical and behavioural systems are interconnected, my goal is to provide an integrative service that treats and supports the whole person, within their broader ecological environment, resulting in the optimisation of their mental and social well-being.
My most important therapeutic value is to provide a compassionate space, where the client can feel safe, accepted and supported. Therapy is walking with the client through part of their journey towards healing and personal growth, helping them to access the resources and wisdom to navigate their way through some of the difficult stages of their life journey. This is a space where the client can be deeply listened to, heard, believed and understood.
