How It Works

Send Us A WhatsApp or Book Online

If you already know what you need you can book an intake session online.

Or

Send us a WhatsApp and tell us what you've noticed, what concerns the school has raised, or what questions you have, or outcomes you require.

Recommendation

If you don't know exactly, we'll make recommendations according to your needs, the client's age, or assessment purposes.

Intake Session

The client (and parents where appropriate) has an hour session with the allocated psychologist, either Online, or in person.

They will discuss relevant history, the procedure, and estimated time and cost.

Assessment

You'll need to come in for the actual assessment. This can take anything between 1 and 6 hours.

Feedback & Report

The feedback session is a further 1 hour session on a later day, either online or in person, and
you'll also get the final report (estimated lead time is 2 weeks from date of assessment).

More Detail

Comprehensive Psycho-Educational Assessment

A detailed picture of how your child learns, thinks and functions.

A comprehensive psycho-educational assessment explores multiple areas of a learner's functioning, including:

  • Cognitive functioning

  • Academic functioning

  • Attention

  • Emotional wellbeing

  • Behaviour

  • Social functioning

  • Individual strengths and areas of difficulty

This assessment may be recommended when there are concerns around learning, attention, behaviour, emotional wellbeing, giftedness or overall school performance.

The aim isn't simply to identify what a child finds difficult. It is to understand their individual profile so that recommendations and interventions can be tailored to help them thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Assessment process: Approximately 8 hours in total, including an intake & feedback session.

School Readiness Assessment

Is your child ready for the transition to formal schooling?

Starting formal school is a significant developmental step. A school readiness assessment helps parents and educators understand whether a child has developed the foundational skills needed for this transition.

Areas explored may include:

  • Cognitive development

  • Language

  • Visual and auditory perception

  • Fine and gross motor skills

  • Early literacy concepts

  • Early numeracy concepts

  • Social development

  • Emotional maturity

The assessment can help guide decisions around school entry while also identifying areas where additional support could make the transition easier.

Assessment process: Approximately 2–3 hours.

Career & Subject Choice Assessment

Helping your child make their next big decision with greater confidence.

Choosing school subjects, a tertiary qualification or a career direction can feel overwhelming — particularly when a learner isn't yet sure where their strengths and interests fit.

Our career and subject choice assessments explore areas such as:

  • Interests

  • Aptitudes

  • Personality

  • Values

  • Individual strengths

These insights are brought together to provide personalised guidance around subject selection, tertiary study options and potential career fields.

Rather than telling a learner what they should become, the goal is to help them understand themselves better and make informed choices that align with their abilities, interests and aspirations.

Assessment process: Approximately 4 hours.

Specific Learning & Educational Assessments

When there is one particular concern you want to understand.

Sometimes a comprehensive assessment isn't necessary.

A focused educational assessment can investigate a specific difficulty or referral question, including concerns related to:

  • Reading

  • Spelling

  • Mathematics

  • Written language

  • Attention

  • Executive functioning

  • Specific learning difficulties

Depending on the referral question, assessment may assist in screening for or assessing difficulties associated with ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia.

Focused assessments may also be useful when supporting an application for examination accommodations or concessions, evaluating progress following an intervention, or answering a particular question raised by a parent, teacher or other professional.

Because these assessments are tailored to the specific concern, the length of the assessment will vary.

When might an assessment be helpful?

You may want to consider an assessment if:

  • Your child is working hard but their marks don't reflect their effort.

  • Reading, writing, spelling or maths seems unusually difficult.

  • A teacher has raised concerns about attention or concentration.

  • Your child struggles with organization, planning or completing tasks.

  • There are questions around ADHD or a specific learning difficulty.

  • Your child appears academically advanced or potentially gifted.

  • You're uncertain whether your child is ready to begin formal schooling.

  • Your teenager is unsure which subjects or career direction to choose.

  • Your school has recommended an assessment.

  • You need supporting information for possible examination accommodations or concessions.

You don't need to know why your child is struggling before asking for help.

Finding that out is part of the assessment process.

Clarity can change the way a child experiences school.

A child who is struggling doesn't necessarily need to "try harder."

Sometimes they need the adults around them to understand how they learn, where they're getting stuck and what kind of support will actually help.

An assessment can be the starting point.

Not sure where to begin?

Tell us a little about your child and what you're concerned about, and our team can guide you towards the most appropriate next step.
