We pride ourselves in our ability to bring client and psychologist together.

Starting with only 1 psychologist, we’ve now grown to more than 50 psychologists in the last 24 months. However, we’ve realized that the demand for our structure and support surpassed our available office space and region, to all across South Africa.
Thus, we had to come up with a solution, which is to offer the normal structure and support to psychologists all across South Africa, and with more and more people becoming comfortable with online therapy as an alternative, we were able to just that.
Before we dive into the specifics, we'd like to tell you a little bit more about us.
ABOUT PSYCH CENTRAL
Psych Central was incorporated in 2019, with head psychologist Christel Roets. Psych Central is multi-faceted with two main functions, we offer mental health care services to the general public in the private sector, and we also offer a supportive platform for newly qualified or existing, mental health care practitioners.
Psych Central was incorporated due to a gap in the industry, being insufficient support for qualified psychologists, after completing their internship / community service. It can be a daunting and difficult task to start up a private practice with little to no support, and that’s the gap we aim to bridge.

We’ve set out to accomplish this task by designing a structure that is guaranteed to equip independent practitioners with the needed skills that will give them the confidence required to flourish in private practice.
THE FOUNDER
Christel is a registered clinical psychologist in private practice. She holds an MA. in Clinical Psychology and has worked at Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital, community clinics as well as private practice for more than 5 years. She acts as head psychologist of Psych Central, and is responsible for supervisory support to independent practitioners, as well as intermittent training in the area of business and psychology.
Within Psych Central, Christel is also responsible for the structural and operational functioning, including the selection of required skills offered by third party service providers, in order to effectively execute the duties of Psych Central that aligns with our overall vision and mission.

The structure is a unique initiative, in that it allows our practitioners to determine their own working schedules, practice from their preferred locations, and building personal relationships with their clients, all whilst we take care of the tedious admin, marketing, and business related issues. You can even join Psych Central just to substitute your existing practice, or as a sideline whilst working for another organization.

We take care of admin, including collecting fees, making appointments, taking calls, paperwork, and a ton of other administrative duties. You'll benefit from an entire admin team and organizational structure, trained and dedicated to make your practice run smoothly. We make every effort to give your clients the best experience, not only with the psychologist, but from the time they land on our website.

We're fully online and capable. This means that all of this is done remotely and effortlessly. You just check your digital calendar for any appointments, and join via Zoom. All the necessary admin, payments, etc. is done in the background and remotely, so you don't have to worry about anything.

We do marketing, spending hours, and thousands of Rands to drive clients your way. This means you benefit from our top-down marketing strategy that lowers cost yet increases exposure.

You get paid in bulk at month end, which means that it still feels like a salary at the end of each month, so you know what to expect.

You make your own hours. You can allocate any number of hours and days to Psych Central, however, keep in mind to maintain consistence when allocating time slots.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Once you decide to join Psych Central, click any of the links labeled "JOIN NOW". You'll be redirected to an online form which you need to complete and submit.

You can choose everything such as your preferred clients, available hours, and area of interest & expertise.

Once you’ve been approved, we’ll start building your online profile, and allocate all necessary tools such as email address, etc.

Once this is done, we’ll send you a short induction document, outlining how everything works, from adding and managing your digital calendar to accessing your clients. If you are joining us physically in Rivonia, Sandton, we'll give you a call to arrange an in person induction as well.
PAYMENT & RESTRICTIONS
GETTING PAID
Throughout the month, we’ll expect you to keep a log of all the sessions you’ve had and send this log to us for reconciliation at the end of each month before making your payment.

WHAT RATE WILL I GET PAID?
​
You get paid a flat rate of R700 / Session of 51 minutes.
​
Note: that these are fixed rates and will be paid to you regardless of what we charge the client, either cash or medical aid, which may include an admin fee.
CLIENTS & RESTRICTIONS
Once Psych Central allocates a client to you, you may only provide a service to that client under the Psych Central brand establishment and not in your personal capacity. If you decide to approach such client in your own capacity, Psych Central will have the right to demand repayment to the value of money spent on marketing and admin in order to gain such client, (on average R3,000 / client) as well as the lost income due to ‘losing’ such client, (on average, the value of the remainder of 15 sessions / client)

You may still continue to see you own private clients, for whom you’ll not receive any assistance or administrative duties performed, unless you allow for them to become Psych Central clients at which point the same payment structure as above will apply.
REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in psychology

You need to be a qualified psychologist and registered for private practice with the HPCSA. (No need to be registered with the BHF.)

Comply with CPD guidelines as set by the HPCSA.

You need to have a private space to conduct therapy, free from interference and noise.

You need to have a stable internet connection, capable of handling online video calls.
