Clinical Psychologist
I regard it a privilege to be invited into the lives of the individuals I work with, and to journey with them through the challenges they confront, towards personal growth and healing. I obtained my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pretoria, after which I completed my internship at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital and community service at Mamelodi Regional Hospital.
I was trained in various evidence-based therapeutic modalities. In my work, I tailor the therapeutic approach to each individual’s presenting needs and goals. I have worked in diverse clinical settings with a broad range of mental health concerns across the lifespan.
In addition to drawing from different modalities in therapy, motivated by the individual’s specific needs, my approach tends to be relational and insight-oriented, rooted in empathy and a strong belief in each person’s capacity for growth. I take interest in the improvement of individuals’ relationality, emotive reality, and the development of a cohesive sense of self.
I believe that more often than not, we have answers to our own questions, but we doubt the power of our own voice. I value the opportunity to walk alongside you as the work of the self takes form, ultimately bringing forth what has always resided within you. My hope is for each individual I am privileged to work with to realize their inherent capacity to inspire the change and growth they may desire, even in the midst of difficulty. As Vivian Greene reminds us, “life is not about waiting for the storms to pass. It is about learning how to dance in the rain”.
"You have the capacity to cope than you ever imagined. A confronting foot forward feels fundamentally different to a recoiling step back." - Julie Smith
