ABOUT

AMANDA

I am a young enthusiastic counselling psychologist and have a deep passion for promoting mental health to improve the quality of life of each human being. I enjoy working with people on a daily basis, specifically adolescents and young adults. I have a keen interest in individuals' life stories as I believe that how we tell our narratives shapes our lives and experiences.

When we tell our stories, we find ways to connect to others and through this we also learn from one another.

I developed a passion for psychology when I wanted to understand human behavior, mostly my own behavior and how my own difficult life experiences have shaped me to be who I am, who I want to be and who I still can be.

In therapy I have learned the value of helping clients feel seen, heard and understood. I am passionate about personal development and growth, I believe this begins when people take on a self-discovery journey which needs to be strictly embedded with embracing yourself and practicing self-compassion.

I believe the key to promoting mental well-being begins with self-compassion because it helps increase optimism, emotional intelligence, gratitude and facilitates healthy relationships.

Therapeutically I have been trained in a variety of frameworks, but prefer working from a person-centred and cognitive behavioral therapy approach. I love therapeutic tools that encourage self-expression such as journaling and creative writing. I am committed to providing a space that allows clients to connect with themselves. A safe and non-judgmental space in therapy is the most important goal, but also a space where a client is encouraged to realize their own power
