Mood-related difficulties

When your mood feels low, flat, or difficult to shift.

We support individuals experiencing depression, bipolar mood patterns, and emotional numbness.

WHAT THIS CAN FEEL LIKE

Changes in mood can show up in different ways — sometimes as persistent low mood, and other times as shifts in energy, motivation, or emotional connection.

Feeling low, heavy, or emotionally drained.

Losing interest in things you usually enjoy.

Feeling numb, disconnected, or “flat”.

Difficulty concentrating or making decisions.

Changes in sleep or appetite.

Periods of low energy or difficulty getting through the day.

Fluctuations in mood, energy, or motivation.

TYPES OF MOOD-RELATED DIFFICULTIES WE SUPPORT

Depression

A persistent low mood that can affect how you feel, think, and function day-to-day.

It often involves a sense of heaviness, loss of interest or pleasure, fatigue, and difficulty finding motivation.

Even small tasks can begin to feel overwhelming.

Emotional numbness

Feeling disconnected from your emotions, yourself, or the world around you.

Rather than feeling overwhelmed, it can feel like not feeling much at all — a sense of emptiness, flatness, or going through the motions without real engagement.

Bipolar mood patterns

Experiences of significant shifts in mood, energy, and activity levels — including periods of low mood as well as periods of elevated or increased energy.

These shifts can impact sleep, behaviour, decision-making, and how you experience yourself and others.

Understanding mood changes

Our mood is influenced by many factors — including life experiences, stress, relationships, biology, and how we’ve learned to cope over time.

Sometimes mood shifts are temporary, and other times they can feel more persistent or difficult to move through without support.

How therapy can support you

Therapy offers a space to gently explore what may be contributing to how you’re feeling, and to find ways of responding that feel more manageable and supportive.

Understanding patterns

Making sense of what may be influencing your mood.

Working with emotions

Reconnecting with and processing what you’re feeling.

Building support

Finding ways to cope, restore energy, and move forward.

You’re not alone in this

Many people experience changes in mood at different points in their lives.

With the right support, it’s possible to understand what’s happening and begin to feel more like yourself again.
