Having this new stranger (who you really love in a way you cannot describe) that you have to take care of 24/7 can be a very interesting and overwhelming journey. The New Mama Support group is there to help you navigate the first few months of motherhood.

About the Event
The first few weeks (even months) after giving birth can be extremely overwhelming. There's a new stranger in the house, who you need to get to know, while taking care of him/her at the same time. On top of this, it comes with a whole load of hormones, emotions, adjustments and newness. Having a baby is not always just sunshine, hugs and kisses. It can be very dissappointing at times and challenging to the extreme. In this safe space, we hope to explore what the birth process was like, giving moms a space to debrief (it can be quite traumatic and beautiful at the same time). We also want to normalize topics such as getting outside help, going back to work early, struggling to bond and adjusting to the new identity and role you find yourself in. Being a mother comes with so many expectations, often from society, but also that we put on ourselves. Maybe it does not have to be so stressful and tough all the time. Maybe it can also be a process of becoming and learning.Â
Once you have joined The New Mama Support Group you will also be added to a private whatsapp group where you will have access to helpful resources and reminders on a weekly basis. This is not compulsory and you can opt to not be added to the group.
The group is open to new members on a weekly basis, to share their experiences and learn from each other. We will be meeting on Zoom online. You can thus join sessions once-off, weekly or on an adhock basis as and when you feel like it - there is no commitment necessary from your side. The group will be limited to 8 participants per session.
