ABOUT CHRISTEL
I am a clinical psychologist who is passionate about relationships in all various natures thereof. I enjoy working with adults for individual therapy as well as couples. I have experience in the clinical field as I worked at Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital, but my love for therapy started when I worked in community clinics.

I work from a person-centred approach, of which the guiding principles are empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. Through this approach, I focus on what a person is experiencing in their here and now, while unpacking some things of the past when necessary. I focus on each individual's needs and integrate various theories and tools to address these most effectively. I believe that often we need to rather find ways to get through uncomfortable feelings, than ways to get around them (although this would seem easier).

Since the start of Psych Central, I have discovered a deep passion and interest in also guiding and helping other psychologists. Being in a supervisory role has been so rewarding and I am enjoying the different element that it brings to be leading a team of professionals.
